I had an amazing experience at David's: I went in with a vague idea of what I was looking for, and the man behind the counter was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He talked through what kind of shoe I was looking for, made some great suggestions, and pulled out a range of sizes for me to try based on what he knew about each style of shoe. He was also able to tell me about the manufacturer of each brand, which was informative. Ultimately, I ended up with something I am very happy with! Additionally, their prices are great: they have everything marked down relative to online retailers, and there's an additional cash discount, so I feel great about my purchase!

Good choice of quality shoes and great service! They have dress shoes, hiking boots, and casual shoes for men and women. Brands like Clark's, Samuel Hubbard, Josef Seibel, Merrell, Chippewa, Carhartt, etc etc. very friendly.

Robert was very helpful and knowledgeable about the shoe selections. High quality options and we found some comfortable leather walking shoes for a great price. Robert was very helpful and patient in finding the right size and fit. There was no pressure throughout the entire process and am very happy with how the shoes have broken in after a few weeks.

TLDR: This is the greatest shoe shop with the greatest experience and the coolest shoes you will probably (most definitely) go to. If you are between choices for a shoe shop, go to David's Shoes On First! Never been more excited to write a review for such a great shop run by great people! I decided to ride the T from Harvard since my shoes were in desperate need of retiring, and the distance was very much worth it. I was given excellent recommendations and a very extensive overview of what my options were in David's Shoes On First (and there were an excellent array of options). Definitely my go to place from now on with the coolest shoes and great prices. There was truly an understanding of what I needed and they helped with many different options. There was no hesitation to bring out many shoes for me to try on even if I could only buy one pair with my budget. They were also trying to get me the best pair for me, not just something very pricey, which I respect greatly.

I’ve been going to David’s Shoes in Cambridge for years. I always get plenty of assistance in finding just what I want! They carry a great selection of shoes and boots at excellent prices. Parking is easy in the neighborhood. I will continue to recommend David’s shoes to all my friends and family.

It’s great to have a store in Cambridge where you can try on high-quality, fairly priced shoes. We bought two perfect pairs of men’s dress shoes, for work in a hospital and for a wedding, in a size 14. I’ll also be back to shop for brands like Birkenstocks and Blundstones because I prefer to find my size in person. The owner really knows his stuff!

The owner went above and beyond to order a pair of shoes which he didn’t have in my size, on short notice. The store has a very good selection of affordable men’s leather shoes. I highly recommend.

Amazing shoe store, even better service. The prices are genuinely insane. They have a bunch of catalogues. If you need comfortable shoes and you’re nurse, doctor, chef, server, bartender, whatever—if you’re standing all day and running all over the place. David’s Shoes on First has a perfect pair for you. I went in looking to get a pair of dankso clogs, which were all around 15% below the online prices and instead the clerk (I believe his name wad Robert) recommended me an even better pair of shoes for my daily work, and it was at an even better price than I had expected. They’re super lightweight, non slip, professional looking, and have comfortable ortho slips. Less than 100$ for life changing work shoes. And if you dont find what you like they’ll order it for you and it will still be at a better price! Bring cash! Thank you so much!
